Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 23, 2026

The short version: Author Services PDF processes your documents entirely on your own device — in your browser tab or the installed app. Your files are never uploaded to us or anyone else. We don’t use analytics, tracking, or advertising, and we don’t sell data because we don’t collect it.

1. Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy describes how Author Services LLC (“we,” “us”) handles information in connection with the Author Services PDF website and the Author Services PDF application (together, the “Service”), whether you use it in your web browser or as an installed desktop application.

2. Your documents never leave your device

Author Services PDF is designed so that the files you open, view, edit, redact, sign, convert, or otherwise work with are processed locally on your own device. This is true of both the browser version and the installed application:

  • Your document content is not uploaded to our servers or any third party as part of using the editor’s features.
  • Editing, redaction, OCR (text recognition), conversion, compression, encryption, signing, and every other tool run on your device. The text-recognition engine and its language data are included with the app and run offline.
  • You can confirm this yourself: disconnect from the internet and the application continues to open, edit, and save PDFs normally.

Because your documents are never transmitted to us, we have no access to them and cannot read, store, share, or recover them.

3. Information the website processes

Using the website (to reach the app or download the desktop version) involves a small amount of ordinary technical information, handled on our own server:

  • Server logs. Like virtually all websites, our web server records standard request information — your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, the response status, and your browser’s user-agent string. We use these logs to operate the site, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.
  • Access password. The Service is provided to authorized users who enter a shared access password. We do not create an account for you or ask for your name or email to sign in, and the password itself is checked against a stored value — we do not record who entered it.
  • Downloads. When you download the desktop application, that request appears in the server logs like any other file request. The installer is a standard file; it does not transmit your documents.

4. Cookies

The website uses a single, strictly-necessary cookie (named ASPDF_SESS) to remember that you have entered the access password during your session. It contains only a session identifier, is not used for tracking, and is not shared with any third party. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

5. No tracking, analytics, or advertising

We do not load third-party analytics, advertising networks, social-media trackers, fingerprinting scripts, or “pixels.” We do not build profiles of you, and we do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

6. Service providers

The website is hosted on server infrastructure we operate. Our hosting and network providers may process technical information (such as IP addresses) solely to deliver the site to you, as is inherent to how the internet works. We do not share your document content with anyone, because it never reaches us.

7. Data retention

Server logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for security and operational purposes and are then deleted or overwritten in the ordinary course. Because we do not collect your documents or personal accounts, there is no such data for us to retain.

8. Security

The website is served over encrypted HTTPS connections. The privacy-protective design of the Service — keeping your documents on your own device — is itself the strongest safeguard: information that is never collected cannot be breached. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited technical information the website processes.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information, such as the right to access or delete it. Because we do not maintain personal accounts or collect your documents, the only information associated with you is transient server-log data. If you have questions or requests, contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by applicable law.

10. Children

The Service is intended for general and professional use and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
