In plain terms: Author Services PDF is provided free of charge to run on your own device. You keep ownership of your files, you’re responsible for how you use the tool, and the software is provided “as is” without warranties. The full terms are below.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Author Services LLC (“we,” “us”) governing your use of the Author Services PDF website and application (together, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Author Services PDF is a PDF editor that runs on your own device — either in your web browser or as an installed desktop application. Its features process your documents locally; your files are not uploaded to us (see our Privacy Policy). We provide the Service free of charge for personal and commercial use.
Access to the Service may require a shared access password. You agree to use any credentials provided to you only as authorized, to keep them reasonably confidential, and not to circumvent or attempt to circumvent access controls. We may change, suspend, or revoke access at any time.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the application and to use the browser version for their intended purpose. You may not:
The application includes third-party open-source components, which remain governed by their own licenses (see Section 8).
You agree not to use the Service to:
You retain all rights to the documents and content you work with. Because your files are processed on your own device and are not transmitted to us, you are solely responsible for your files, for keeping your own backups, and for the results of any operation you perform — including redaction, deletion, encryption, and conversion. Some operations (such as redaction and permanent text removal) are irreversible; you are responsible for verifying results and retaining originals as needed.
The Service, including its name, branding, design, and original software, is owned by Author Services LLC or its licensors and is protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to you except for the limited license granted above.
The application is built with open-source software, which is provided under its respective licenses. Those components are the property of their respective owners, and your use of them is subject to their licenses. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under any applicable open-source license.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any output will meet your requirements. You use the Service at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Author Services LLC and its owners, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Author Services LLC from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your files, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, and we may update these Terms from time to time. When we update the Terms, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 7, 9, 10, and 11) will survive.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, to the extent permitted by law.
